The EXP1x from Rane is an expansion module for the HAL1x, adding 16 inputs and 16 outputs from eight Remote Audio Device (RAD) ports via the HAL1x’s expansion bus. Each RAD port offers four channels; two channels each direction, as well as a communication channel, power, ground, and status indicators. The EXP1x uses CAT 5e cables (or better) and is capable of distances up to 500 feet (150 m) from the HAL1x multiprocessor.
Additionally, the RAD ports accept input from any Digital Remotes (DR) modules further expanding user control options. Up to 32 EXP1xs may be daisy-chained to a single HAL1x, adding 512 inputs and 512 outputs.
